Last week was jam-packed with learning in our classroom. We discussed author and illustrator, Jan Brett, who wrote the famous books The Hat and The Mitten (among countless other titles). We compared and contrasted these two books, discussed the characters and setting, and discussed what happened in the beginning, the middle, and the end. During Daily Five, children were given the opportunity to retell the story with character "puppets". They could also use the puppets to create different sentences, using our class tricky words. |
Technology continued to be integrated into our classroom this week with the addition of the "Show Me Ipad" in which children could take turns taking a special ipad during Daily Five, write words or sentences, and record themselves reading it. The kids had a blast with this and we had fun listening to what was recorded!
In math, we continued our study of shapes, introducing 3D shapes. We know that 3D shapes are solid while 2D shapes are flat. We sang songs about 3D shapes, built structures with them, found real-life examples, and in the art center, we even got to paint with them!
