One of my absolute favorite kindergarten math units is shapes! Like everything, kids come in with various levels of knowledge about them. But when you think about it, those shape names can be tricky to learn for children who haven't heard them since birth or in preschool. And English Language Learners who are still learning basic english vocabulary? That's an added challenge! Thankfully, we have songs like these to help us remember the shapes:

Students used 3d Shapes with paint to explore the faces of 3D shapes. When you stamp a cone, it leaves a circle print-- because it has a circle face!
As a special math snack, we got to construct 3d shapes out of marshmallows and tooth picks!
